when the market is ballish, you're bouncing. if it's beerish, you're tipsy

I JUST COMPOSED another poetry.

Sooner or later, I will probably give this to someone. The lines should have been a masterpiece for the donne or spark came over me suddenly. So, I have to write it down badly. But anyway, I got a different subject matter this time. It’s all about butterflies.

Damn right. It’s all about butterflies. It never occurred to me that I would be using butterfly as metaphor until my friend Ryan had his own version of Greek mythologizing someone that caught his fancy. I somehow was able to modify those lines. And viola – my poetry.

I must admit that I am no good when it comes to putting words to romance. A defaced romantic perception of mine does not permit me. That is probably one of the reasons why I am so poor when it comes to courtship. But my friend here has mastered the classical metaphors and similes to his advantage. It is not surprising that he has captured any girl of his delight.

Do not ask me of mine. I do suck with romance. That is why I fell in love with charts, graphs and figures. And when I am terribly lonely, I grab a cup of Nescafe Frothe and read Shakespeare.

THE ASIAN business personalities have changed their lifestyles. They used to be spending more hours on work and less on family. They have been so engrossed with their job that they found no quality time on things that really matter. The result is rather positive on a whole and destructive individually. The Asian miracle is one. Declining health and missing the growing years of their kids is another.

But that was before.

The post 9/11 Earth has changed all of this. They soon have realized that family and work life should be balanced, that these two things are necessary. Guess what. Their work time increased as well as their family life. Not only that, they have considered traveling as an alternative to clubbing after work.

So for bar owners, be alarmed. For resorts and tourists spots entrepreneurs, be euphoric with this good news. For the next few years, guests will come flocking your place and profits will double. Don’t you think it is time to forecast those potential growth charts and figure.

I DO NOT understand the Philippine Stock Exchange. The Phisix index is still pointing up. Heller. Are we not having a fiscal deficit? Honestly, I am not seeing any sound fundamentals in the market this time and I found it absurd that it’s still plummeting up. Speculators have gone mad and so do I.

They say, we should all give credit to the president for the boost in the index. Ugh. Just because the president acknowledges the presence of a crisis does not mean that there will be some specific and market-moving solutions. Does it mean that when I steal something and admit the crime, it is okay? From the point of a tough nut moralist, it is not. But from the viewpoint of a market speculator, is it? Maybe. After all, they are much concerned with their profits.

I am not saying I am not happy with how the market is performing. But when the market sends a buy signal and with unfounded fundamentals, you can just wonder whether Japan’s bubble economy in the 80’s really did exist.

Maybe, I am wrong. I am a struggling rookie in the market. Pretty much, I do not trade with real money. My computer does not contain any fancy software to analyze the Price-Earnings Ratio to the Future Earnings. I do have my 2-year-old calculator, which have been so battered and depreciates faster than our 1979 Magnavox television.

You can only see me trading in a stock simulation game. Damn.
