WHAT HAPPENED to me on March 25? My memory has betrayed me. All I could remember was I was not able to attend the review sessions for the Comprehensive Exams since my face was bleeding. Blood was all over me, and I was pretty scared.

But what really happened?

I was scared. Just that. I was scared that I was getting hooked. The idea of being attached to something, and I was losing control was on my head at that time. Then those logical thoughts started to come in.

I have to be rational. In doing so, I made a mistake. I made the mistake of being a coward. I made the mistake of telling the wrong things. It was unfortunate that I found the need to tell a person pathetic words right there and then. And, I felt so guilty.

Days after that, I began to regret. Emotionally battered, it seemed that Time couldn’t heal those wounds. But maybe, there was something good about it. I thought. While I was starting to forgive myself, reality does hurt. The fact that everything seems so different now still reminds me of what happened.

So for now, I am acting as if nothing happened. The good thing is, my memories of you are still fresh. Those memories make me smile, while I am alone in my room. I guess this is just one of those phases you’re talking about. And, I guess we have to move on with the rest of our lives.

Forgive me for causing you so much pain. I never meant to be so rude. After all, I am but human.

I AM WONDERING why the Chinese traders did not come up with the idea of conquering the Philippine Islands. Probably, the spillover effects of today’s Chinese economy are really positive. With China’s GDP on the rise, in proportion to its population perhaps, we may have been part of it. Take a closer look on this year’s Hong Kong. Its economy is expanding because of China’s growth.

The job rate growth remains constant at 5% for Hong Kong, while our job rate I won’t bother to know considering that the ratio of growing population’s to jobs available is lopsided. But if Philippines Islands were to be a state of China, would that mean a better economic stand compared to our present condition?

I was just thinking that maybe our business set up here is pretty much Chinese. Lucio Tan has been in the brewery and tobacco industry for quite some time now and he has master the art of eluding his tax evasion cases. Henry Sy, the mall magnate will soon virtually dictate the banking industry with a marriage of PCI Equitable and Banco de Oro. And, Danding Cojuangco who has been keeping his fingers crossed that the Supreme Court will not revive his Coco-Levy Fund.

Two questions, however. Is Danding really Chinese? And, can the Chinese tycoons save the Philippines? Bill Luz will probably shake his head.

It has become apparent that Spanish-conquered countries have been backward in terms of progress while in contrast British colonies including Hong Kong have showed growth for the last years. Is it safe to assume then there culture affects the economic framework and potential of a nation?

One can shake his head if he likes.

At first, I was scared about the news. But in reality there is still some hope. And, here’s some simplification to Philippines debt problems.

First. Force every citizen to give off PHP 50,000. With 80 million Filipinos, that would be enough to pay off our 4-trillion debt.

Second. With regards to currency, we ignore the market rules. Let the Bangko Sentral Governor dictate the dollar-peso exchange. And better yet, we can no longer peg our currency to the dollars.

Third. Why don’t we produce more money by mining more gold ores, so we can match the ballooning deficit of our government?

Well. Do you think this will work? Oh, yeah. That would work in never-never-land. For now, we can just say that the process of simplification is after all not that simple.

Postscript: My Siamese twin brotha, LiuMaohsing calls me a blogger boy (say it with an English accent). Well, I am not. This is article stuff, dude. Why don’t you post your “First Instance” here? What do you think?
